Day 1: A night in the Sahara Desert from Fes – Atlas
On Fes to marrakech desert tour 3 days your driver will pick you up from your hotel or Riad at 7 am to embark on a marvelous journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop will be the charming town of Ifrane, also known as Morocco’s Switzerland due to its Alpine chalet-style architecture. Built in the 1930s by the French, Ifrane becomes a snowy wonderland in winter, offering a nearby ski resort called Michliffen.
From there, we’ll venture through the vast cedar forests surrounding the Berber village of Azrou, known as “The Rock” in the local Berber dialect. Here, you’ll have the chance to encounter the famous Barbary apes, actually macaque monkeys, as they try to share your lunch in their natural habitat.
Continuing through the majestic Atlas Mountains, known for their mythical role in supporting the sky, we’ll wind our way through forested peaks, meandering mountain streams, and stunning springs. The journey will present you with breathtaking vistas of jagged rock formations. Finally, we’ll reach the town of Rissani, an important gateway to the Sahara, followed by a remarkable sight as the Erg Chebbi sand dunes appear suddenly before your eyes. These massive dunes, reaching up to 50 meters in height.
Prepare for an unforgettable ninety-minute camel trek through the shifting sands, culminating in a mesmerizing sunset experience. As you traverse the desert, you’ll arrive at a traditional Berber desert encampment, nestled amidst the mountainous dunes. Here, you can relax, relish a delightful dinner, and enjoy the enchanting melodies of traditional Berber music. Falling asleep under the glittering canopy of countless bright stars, you’ll feel as if you could almost touch them.
Day 2: Sahara Desert – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate
Wake up early to witness the splendor of the sunrise over the sand dunes. After a gentle camel ride back to a hotel, you’ll indulge in a delicious breakfast. During the ride, you’ll notice the ever-changing shadows cast by the dunes, lengthening and shrinking as the day progresses. Following breakfast, we’ll begin our journey to Ouarzazate, starting with a drive through the Todgha Gorges. These gorges, reaching a depth of 300 meters, cut through the easternmost part of the High Atlas Mountains. Take the opportunity to explore and hike around the picturesque village of Tinghir. Considered the highest and most beautiful gorges in Morocco, the Tinghir and Todgha gorges never fail to captivate visitors.
Our next destination is Kelaat Mgouna, also known as Rose City, a Berber town famous for its annual Festival of Roses. The festival takes place in mid-May (timing may vary) during the rose harvest season when local growers come together to sell their fragrant wares, particularly rose water. The lingering aroma of rose water will grace your clothes, body, and bed linen long after its application.
Continuing our journey, we’ll arrive at the lush oasis of Skoura, surrounded by expansive palm groves and offering stunning views of the majestic Atlas Mountains.
